# Your first offramp

> Convert a stablecoin balance in your Veil wallet to fiat in your bank account.

An offramp converts crypto sitting in your Veil wallet into fiat that lands in your bank account. The quote you see before confirming shows the exchange rate, fees, and the amount of fiat you'll receive.

## Before you begin

* Your wallet must have a USDC or USDT balance (send crypto to the deposit address first — see [Your wallets](/individuals/wallets))
* Your bank account must be added and past any cooldown period

## Running an offramp from the dashboard

    From the dashboard home tab, click **Send to bank**. The offramp screen opens.

  <Step title="Get a quote">
    Select the wallet, enter the amount, and choose the destination bank account. The dashboard fetches a live quote showing the exchange rate, the fees, and the estimated fiat amount you'll receive.

    Quoting is non-binding — you can adjust the amount or change the destination and re-quote as many times as you like.

  <Step title="Confirm and submit">
    When you're satisfied with the quote, click **Confirm**.

      If you haven't recently signed in, the dashboard will ask you to re-verify your email before the offramp continues. A six-digit code is sent to your address — enter it in the modal that appears. This is a session re-verification, not a per-transaction step; once you verify, the offramp picks up where it left off.

    Beyond that sign-in check, you control when a send needs its own confirmation code under **Settings → Offramp security** — for example, requiring one only above an amount you choose for sends to your own bank. Sends to someone else's bank (by `@username`) always require a code.

  <Step title="Wait for settlement">
    The offramp is submitted. The dashboard shows the transaction in your history. Veil processes the conversion and sends the fiat to your bank account. EUR settlements typically arrive the same day; cross-border transfers take longer.

## Settlement timing

Processing time depends on the destination rail. EUR via SEPA and GBP via UK Faster Payments typically settle same day. USD via ACH or cross-border SWIFT transfers may take longer. The quote screen shows an estimated processing time for your corridor.

## Claim a username

Claim a permanent `@handle` from the **Settings** tab so others can send offramps to you without ever seeing your bank details. See [Usernames](/concepts/usernames).
